Must-See Netflix Shows

Hey everyone! Today, I take my last exam and after that I am free for the summer! Finally! I don’t know about you but my summers are never really jam packed with action. Last summer, I had cheerleading once a week and a handful of vacations but it is definitely not as demanding as school. I have a lot of downtime. I watch a ton of T.V. mainly because I don’t have my license to go to the pool with my friends and all that jazz (I do get them in about a month! #yay) or if it rains. Netflix is usually my go to on days like this. Today, I am going to sharing with you some shows you may get addicted to if you watch too many in a row.

This show is hilarious. The main character,Ted, is basically telling a story to his kids of how met their mother. Of course, you aren’t ever going to find out who the mother is. Rumor has it they will show her for sure in the next season on CBS! But seriously, I have watched all of the episodes available on Netflix and I love it.

I watched a couple of episodes of NYC Prep on Bravo when it was on in 2008 for one season. Unfortunately, there are only eight episodes. But I did watch about four in a row one day. All of the kids on the show live in NYC and go to prep school except one but she is BFFs with some of them. It is just really overdramatic and ridiculous that they have so much money but some of their “drama” is almost relatable to high school for everyone. By that I mean: boys. (hehe)

This is basically a given. I have watched every episode and if you haven’t you totally should. (In NYC Prep, they make references to GG and talk about how it gets in the way of their everyday lives while they are filming it in the Upper East side) Like honestly I don’t see how you couldn’t be addicted to the show.

I have yet to watch this but everyone in my town has seen it and loved it and also feel the need to quote things from it in their tweets. It does seem pretty cool that it takes place in NC where I am from…. So why haven’t I watched it yet. That has yet to be answered. Fun fact: a part in one of the later episodes was filmed in the airport in my town. That’s pretty cool for my super small town. So I am planning on starting this some point this summer.

Have an awesome Thursday!

Random DIY :: Decorating Your Graduation Cap

Hey there! Taylor here, from The Pre-Vet Prep! I'm so excited to be writing for Chit-Chat this month, and I hope you enjoy my first post! We'll be talking about a DIY project today that will be of particular interest to graduating seniors (rising seniors may want to bookmark this too, for future reference!) - decorating your graduation cap!

We all know those caps aren't flattering. Who decided that a flat board on top of your head looks good? The only benefit that comes from that is getting to decorate the top. I will be among the first graduating class from my brand new high school, so we had no idea whether administration was going to let us decorate them or not. Turns out they did, as long as there are no 3D parts to it!

I looked at soooo many pictures of girls' grad caps to decide what I was going to do with mine. I knew I wanted to have my monogram and my college on there somewhere.

{via}
I got most of my inspiration from the one in the center.

I lined mine in ribbon and put on my monogram and college logo (throwback!), glittered the center button, and wrote my college graduation year and part of my favorite Bible verse. You might have noticed that courageous is kind of messed up... I accidentally started to spell it "corageous"! I caught myself though. This was even after having it written on a sheet of paper correctly beside me. My luck.

For the monogram and logo, I printed it on card stock and cut it out with an exacto knife. To get the patterned letters it was sort of a process. First I typed the monogram into word art on Microsoft Word. Then I flipped the letters so they were mirrored horizontally and printed the pattern on the back so that when I cut it out, there would be no risk of lines around the pattern!

To attach everything, I used clear tacky glue from Walmart for $1.97! It was overall extremely cheap - my mom got the card stock from her work and I had the glitter on hand. All I had to buy was the glue and ribbon!

All in all, I think it turned out well! Now I'm even more excited to graduate!

Exercise Routine

Hi Everyone!

Today's post is all about my exercise routine!

I am both a cross country runner and swimmer, so I do get good workouts when I'm at those practices. However, sometimes I'll just be sitting at home and decide to workout! #AthleteProbz

Now, onto the post!

1. Be Prepared - Before I work out, I always make sure to eat a healthy snack about thirty minutes prior. I love eating all of these snacks before I work out because they are quick and easy to prepare, as well as sustainable and will not affect my performance while working out!

2. Enjoy It - Create a "Workout Playlist" which you can listen to while working out. I've done a post before {click here} featuring a couple of my favorite songs I like to jam to!

3. Plan It - Create a "schedule" to follow. You can find various ideas on Pinterest...

I also made an example of what I usually try to make my workouts look like. (Note: This example is just ONE week and it is a less strenuous workout because I also have swim practice.)

...I also like to run in the mornings (depends on how early/late I wake up, so they are not set on a specific day, however I try to do that one or two days a week, i.e. Tuesday and Thursday.)

4.  Use Apps - I'm not going to lie, it is hard figuring out a workout which fits what you need. I usually get my workouts from my coaches when we do CORE in practice, but I have also come across fabulous apps which come with various workouts you can do, that fit your needs. Here are my two favorites:

MapMyRun

Nike Training Club (NTC)

Additionally, various magazines (i.e. Seventeen) have a workout section where you can find recommended exercises from celebrity trainers!

5. Buddy Routine - Have a friend workout with you. You can: a) get exercise and b) spend some quality time with your friend(s)! #DoubleWhammy

I hope you all enjoyed this post and could maybe use some of my ideas!

What is your exercise routine?

Splurge vs. Save

Hey y'all! Taylor here, from The Pre-Vet Prep! I know Chit-Chat readers love a good deal. I mean, who doesn't, right? Some of my favorite deals come from the shoe department. Target, to me, often has the best deals. I've gotten multiple pairs of shoes for $10 each! I noticed quite a few of their shoes have J. Crew lookalikes, but are much cheaper than their counterparts. I've made a little infographic below comparing some of my favorite Target and J. Crew sandals!

I love the pop of yellow in the last pair, and those wedges are darling! I'm actually loving the black/brown combo these days (even though I used to hate it!) so the target ones are right up my alley. Oh, and who doesn't love glitter, right?

Prepare for Prom

Here is a last minute compilation of prom must-haves so that you can avoid stressing out the afternoon before your big night!

1. The Dress. Obviously!
2. Matching Accessories. Be sure you have jewelry and a pair of shoes and you're not shopping last minute.
3. The Clutch. A tiny bag is nice to bring along. Just make sure it's big enough to store all of your essentials: lip gloss, gum/mints, tissues, camera, etc.
4. Hair. If you're interested in having your hair professionally done, I suggest scheduling an appointment at a salon at least a week in advance. Remember, all the girls in your town will be getting their hair done on the same day! If you're opting to do your own hair, pick out a style that you are confident you can do on your own, and practice it before hand to avoid emergencies.
5. Nails. Just like the hair, make sure to make those appointments ahead of time!
6. Before Prom-Plans. Even if you're not going with a date, no one wants to end up completely alone before their prom night! Firm up plans with a group of friends well in advance and decide on where you will be taking your pictures. Trust me, all of the parents will thank you for being organized and taking initiative!
6. After-Prom Plans. Some people like to have an after party or hang out with friends when prom is over. I had a fun night in with a group of friends after my prom this year: we watched a movie, ate snacks, and had a sleepover! Please remember to stay safe and make smart decisions. If you're at a party you don't feel comfortable at, it's better to just go home and end the night on a good note!
